Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against any attempt to enter or disrupt Islamabad during its planned September 27 protest. Talal Chaudhry Warns PTI that the government will take strict legal action if the demonstration resembles previous marches, sit-ins or attempts to enter the capital.

The warning comes as PTI prepares for its announced long march toward Islamabad. The government has linked its response to maintaining public order and complying with an Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruling concerning political gatherings and the use of public spaces in the federal capital.

    Government Warning

Speaking to the media, Chaudhry said authorities would not allow anyone to attack Islamabad, disrupt law and order or challenge the writ of the state. He warned that any attempt to repeat events associated with November 26 or earlier political marches would face strict action.

The minister’s remarks were made alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who separately warned that violating the IHC order could lead to contempt-of-court proceedings. Naqvi said the government would not permit protesters to enter Islamabad in violation of the court’s directions

    Islamabad High Court Ruling

The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties and public office holders do not have a lawful right to block roads, highways, interchanges, toll plazas or other public places in the capital.

The court also directed authorities to protect citizens’ movement and access to essential facilities, including educational and medical institutions. It further instructed provincial governments not to use public resources to facilitate political marches or rallies.

The ruling has become a central point in the government’s response to the planned PTI demonstration.

    PTI Protest Plans

PTI has announced the September 27 protest as part of its political campaign. The proposed demonstration has raised concerns among government officials over possible disruption in Islamabad, particularly if participants attempt to move beyond designated protest arrangements.

The government has indicated that lawful political activity will be handled within the framework of the law, while attempts to obstruct public roads or enter restricted areas will be dealt with by authorities.

    What Happens Next

The September 27 PTI protest is expected to remain a major political and security issue in the coming days. Government officials have already warned participants to follow the IHC ruling, while authorities are preparing security arrangements for the capital.

The immediate focus will be on whether the planned protest proceeds within the legal framework set by the court and whether authorities and PTI organisers can prevent disruption to public movement and services.
